St Bartholomew's CE Primary

Considerate, Co-operative, Confident

Our Vision

Our goal is to produce members of society who are Considerate to everyone they meet, who have a Co-operative approach to life and who are Confident in each other and in themselves to strive for the very best that they can be.

We aim to achieve this by using Christian values as our guide and helping them to grow within a caring and inclusive community.

Aims:  We want our pupils to be:    Considerate, Co-operative, Confident

EthosWe will achieve this with:  Christian Values and Learning in a Caring and Inclusive Community

Why Considerate?

To be considerate is to think about others.  The bible says, 'Be kind and considerate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you.' (Ephesians 4:32)

Why Co-operative?

When we are co-operative, we listen to and watch what others are doing so that we can work successfully with them.  The bible says we should 'Work towards a common goal.' (Philippians 2:2)

Why Confident?

Being confident is not just about being able to do things.  It is also about trust in ourselves and trust in others so that we are not afraid to have a go.  The bible says, 'Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love.' (1Corintians 16:13-14)

Our Responsibilities:

PUPILS

We want you to have the very best education we can offer, for the work you undertake in class to be interesting and for you to approach it with enthusiasm and a thirst for knowledge.  We never want the work to be too difficult or too easy for you, but for there to be enough challenge in order for you to learn from your mistakes.  We want you to have plenty of opportunities to work things out for yourselves and for you to ask questions to help you continue to make accelerated progress with your learning.  In order for you to make really good progress you must have the opportunity to have high quality feedback and for you to think hard about what YOU can do to make your work better. We want ALL the children in our school to enjoy their time here and for the activities we offer both in classrooms and outside of school hours to be full of fun and challenge and for you to feel safe and well cared for.

STAFF

We want all of us to know all of you whether you are in our class or not, for each child to feel that they are valued and that their different needs are met.  We want staff to be passionate about making a difference to each and every child and to know that their hard work is appreciated by me, as headteacher, and the other people who help me to run our school.  We want every one of us to be committed to making a difference and to be flexible and open to change.  There must be a no 'excuses culture' in our school and we never assume that you can’t achieve - we always believe that you can - and we work hard to think about ways to ensure that this happens.

GOVERNORS

We want the governors to know our school well, to visit regularly and to be keen to see the improvements we are making in practice.  We want them to ask really difficult questions to make sure that we are doing the very best that we can.  We want governors to think 'out of the box' about how they can help me and the rest of the staff to make your school even better.

PARENTS

We want parents to know that they have an important part to play in your education and that they can contribute in helping to make our school even better.   We view them as a crucial part of your learning and want them to contribute and support you as best they can - and we can help them with this! They can keep up-to-date about your development by asking your teachers what they can do to help you learn and by attending parent’s evenings and any training events the school runs It would be great if they came to our extra-curricular and fund raising events and really contributed to the life of the school by doing things like hearing readers or helping out on the PTFA.  We want them to know that they are always welcome and if things are not going the way that they want them to, that they can come and talk to me as headteacher, and together we will try to put things right.
