Year 2 News

Bug Hotel

What a marvellous afternoon we have had! We have been busy bees in our Forest School building our own Bug Hotel for all the mini-beasts living at St. Bartholomew's. The children collected lots of twigs, leaf litter, moss, and even found their very own creepy crawlies to add to the microhabitat.

Habitats!

We've had such an exciting day making habitats for the four characters from The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. We researched the ideal habitats for moles, badgers, toads and rats in our Science lesson and got creating lots of homes for these creatures. What a great day!

Ready! Steady! Cook!

It's been Design and Technology week in Year 2. We've put our chef hats on, and designed, made and evaluated vegetarian pizzas using produce grown from seed in the UK. The pizzas were delicious.

Great job, Year 2!

'Planternoon'

Our wonderful families came to join us for a brilliant plant-themed afternoon. We performed the song 'Three Little Birds' to the parents, then got creative finger painting, card making, plant pot decorating and seed sowing. What a lovely way to celebrate 'Growth' for British Science Week!

Stop! Drop! Roll!

Year 2 enjoyed a visit from the Fire Brigade.

We learnt about the importance of keeping safe near fire, and what to do in an emergency.

Snow Day

Key Stage 1 enjoyed an exciting day in the snow. We built snow people and made angels.
